New Years Eve

Well, 2008 is coming to an end. It has been a year of ups and downs. No matter what happened, it was the best year of my life thus far. I never imagined that I would have such a beautiful family and feel so fulfilled. It was exactly this day last year that our precious little girl Astraea Penelope was concieved! Wow! We could not have asked God for a better gift.

I am spending the night at home with the baby while Daddy works. We will definitely miss him! I plan on going in and kissing her at midnight and I have already gotten teary eyed at how wonderful the next year of our lives is going to be with her in it. She has got some amazing milestones coming up in the next few months and we feel so lucky to be a part of it. What a blessing!

Back in Texas

Well, we made it back to Texas last night. It was a great trip and we barely managed to stuff all of Astraea's gifts in the car to come home. She really cleaned up. We got there on Sunday night, well actually 3:30 am Monday morning. Gramma Dorothy seemed happy to see us though. On Monday we just tried to get her settled in. She was having a hard time adjusting to a new place and so many new people. It was kind of a rough day. Tuesday was a little better. Doug's grandparents have a Christmas party every year for family and friends and it was a lot of fun for us, but she wasn't too impressed. On Wednesday we had her christened at the Christmas Eve service at their church. It was a beautiful service and she acted like an angel. We were so proud. Thursday morning we got up early and checked out our stockings and let Astraea play with her big toy. And then everyone came over to exchange gifts. It was a lot of fun and we got some great stuff! All in all, it was a success. Now we know that it will get easier and easier to travel with her.

First Family Vacation

Yay! It's finally Christmas time. I have been looking forward to our first family vacation forever. We are headed to Tennessee to Great Gramma Dorothy's house. Mimi will be there, Doug's mom, and all of his family. There are people that haven't met our little princess yet, and we are so excited to introduce her.

We plan on drinking egg nog, relaxing, and just visiting with family. I am so happy that Doug will have a chance to take a break that he really deserves. Astraea and I are so thankful that he supports us and takes care of us. Mommy and Daddy might even sneak out on Christmas day for a movie. There will be so many people that can't wait to hold her anyways! I doubt we will be able to pry her away...

We will be back next weekend with an update on Baby's first Christmas!
